About the RoleThe Delivery Science team is a key part of the cross-functional product development team that builds the tech underlying our Online Food Delivery, Grocery, Direct and Ads lines of businesses. We build across the end-to-end user experience, including consumer growth, feed, search, shopping experiences, catalog management and fulfillment flow.The Science work we do is diverse and helps to drive every stage of product development. Our toolkit includes algorithm design, ML modeling, experimentation, product analytics, causal inference & econometrics, etc. You will collaborate with other scientists, product managers, and business teams to understand the challenges in our space, then tackle problems that no one else has solved yet.What You'll Do- Refine ambiguous questions and generate new hypotheses about the product through a deep understanding of data, our customers, and our business.- Design experiments and interpret the results to draw detailed and impactful conclusions.- Define how our teams measure success, by developing metrics, in close partnership with cross functional partners..- Develop data-driven insights and work with cross-functional partners to identify opportunities to improve the product and develop technical roadmaps.- Collaborate with other Scientists and Engineers to build and improve data foundations.Basic Qualifications- PhD, M.S. or Bachelors degree in Math, Economics, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields. (If M.S. degree, a minimum of 1+ years of industry experience required and if Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 3+ years of industry experience as a Data Scientist or equivalent)- Experience in experimental design and analysis, exploratory data analysis and statistical analysis.- Experience with dashboard/data visualization toolings.- Ability to use Python to work efficiently at scale with large data sets.- Proficiency in SQL.Preferred Qualifications- 5+ years experience as a Data Scientist or equivalent.- Experience managing projects across large, ambiguous scopes and driving initiatives in a fast moving, cross-functional environment.- Experience guiding and mentoring other Data Scientists.- Experience using statistical methodologies such as sampling, statistical estimates, descriptive statistics, or similar.- Experience synthesizing data analyses into clear insights to influence product direction.For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$134,000 per year - USD$149,000 per year.For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$149,000 per year - USD$165,500 per year.For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$149,000 per year - USD$165,500 per year.For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp.
