Our analytic solutions bridge content, data, and analytics to help business, people, and society become stronger, more resilient, and sustainable.Job DescriptionThe Analytical Data Operations (ADO) team is responsible for managing the data underlying Verisk’s Core Line Services analytical teams consisting of a wide range of data scientists, actuaries, and data analysts. This product line impacts insureds across 28 personal and commercial lines of property & casualty insurance across the United States. We operate in a highly regulated industry where adherence to best practices and professional standards is non-negotiable. Due to the nature of our business within a data centric industry, this is a highly technical role that will sit within the business function. The ADO team is looking to hire a Snowflake Data Platform Owner, ideally having a good combination of an analytical/innovative mindset, technical aptitude, business accumen, communication skills, and a passion for data and technology. This role might or might not have direct reports now or in the future. As our Snowflake Data Platform Owner, you will... Be responsible for guiding and enabling our analytical teams to effectively utilize the Snowflake environment. Holding information session for the user community on Snowflake enhancements, capabilities, data assets, etc Identifying useful data assets available in the Snowflake marketplace and working with our data governance committee to make them accessible to our analytics teams Ensuring proper documentation exists of all publish ed data assets Work with technical partners to ensure seamless integration with other analytical frameworks/platforms. Lead the design and implementation of the Snowflake security model and ensure alignment to data governance policies. Define a strategy and roadmap for role and access policies. Create and maintain a catalog of data assets curated for data use requests and manage appropriately. Design and implement a process to monitor the security model. Work with our DBAs to implement and maintain an evolving security strategy Oversee the data platform design and architecture. Review existing data pipelines and recommend enhancements based on best practices or new Snowflake features. Work with data engineering and analytical staff to algin warehouse configuration with projects/products/teams etc that best align to revenue/expense tracking requirements. Review end-user queries to identify common processes and reduce redundancy via preprocessed data marts, Maintain our Snowflake utilization with current best practices. Be accountable for the effective cost optimization and allocation of the snowflake data platform. Define metrics to monitor as KPIs for the utilization of the Snowflake Platform Track and report on the impact of optimization initiatives on defined KPIs Develop a roadmap to address high-cost/low-value uses of the Snowflake Platform Identify users that drive significant costs and ensure those processes are aligned to business goals. QualificationsBachelor`s or Master`s Degree in technical or business discipline. 5 or more years of hands-on experience developing data platforms, data tools, and/or depth of data management technologies. 3-5 years of experience working with the Snowflake platform and knowledge of current capabilities/features 1-3 years of experience as an Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, or similar role 1-3 years of experience in business intelligence/analytics, preferably working with property/casualty insurance data Experience querying complex data structures using SQL and optimizing complex SQL queries is required. Ability to dive deep into any technical component as well as understand and drive the overall systems architecture. Excellent analytical ability, consultative, communication, change management, presentation and management skills, strong judgment, and ability to effectively liaise with cross functional stakeholders and optimize teams.
