The Valley Medical Group (VMG) seeks an experienced Palliative Care leader to serve as Director of Palliative Care.
The Director of Palliative Care will be responsible for planning, development, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive palliative care services across the Valley continuum. The Director will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality, patient centered care ensuring that patients with serious illness receive comprehensive symptom management, psychosocial support and goal concordant care. This role involves collaboration with health care providers, patients and families to optimize the quality of life and align care with patients’ goals and values.
FACULTY & RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES
As Program Director of the Palliative Care fellowship, the Doctor will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and obtaining ACGME accreditation for a new Palliative Care Fellowship Program. This position is responsible for developing a curriculum that aligns with ACGME standards, overseeing the accreditation process, and ensuring the program provides fellows with a robust education in palliative care, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the field. The Program Director will work collaboratively with the DIO, GME director, faculty, staff, and external partners to maintain the program's excellence and contribute to the advancement of palliative care education and research. In addition to excellent clinical and leadership skills, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of academic excellence and be knowledgeable of ACGME policies and procedures.
This role will serve in a collaborative team with VHS, VMG, and The Valley Hospital (TVH) leaders.

- It is anticipated that the Director will devote 30% of their time in administrative responsibilities and 70% of their time in clinical practice.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Medicine or Osteopathy
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in New Jersey required
- Board certified in Palliative Care and Hospice Medicine
- Maintains up-to-date credentials including CV, License, DEA, CDS, Board Certification, documentation of hospital admitting privileges.
- Maintains CME/MOC credit hours as required for Board Certification and/or hospital staff privileges.
- A minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in clinical practice
- Prior GME experience preferred
- Strong leadership, management, and collaboration skills
- Proven record of programmatic development
- Proven relationship-building skills with physicians as well as with all other key stakeholders
- Skilled in problem resolution and strong analytical abilities
- Ability to build trust and confidence with utmost integrity
- Ability to lead change and build consensus to support change
- Solid clinical and clinical data related analytical skills
- Ability to serve as a role model for collegiality and collaboration across the organization
