The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure in an ISP environment.

This position is highly security sensitive to understand the security requirement of the company, Team Telecom and the shareholder, NTT DOCOMO.

The System Administrator should be a creative problem solver, work well in cross team environments and be flexible to work night or weekend.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, servers, and virtualization
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications for planning and implementing new or upgrades of server infrastructure
  • Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Lead helpdesk support efforts, making sure applications, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
  • Responsible for capacity, storage and performance planning.

NECESSARY SKILLS:
  • Server configuration and management experience.
  • Experienced in Vmware deployment, iSCSI, Fibre Channel SANS, Standalone servers/Blade systems.
  • Able to work affectively with operating systems: Linux (Various distributions), Windows/Windows Server
  • Basic network fundamentals: VLANs, Subnetting
  • 10+ years in video headend equipment installation and trouble shooting.
  • Experience in VOD, Multicast/Unicast Streaming
  • Hardware Experience:
    • Blade systems/Standalone server systems from various vendors.
    • Cisco/Juniper/HP switches
  • Configuration Experience:
    • Knowledgeable in various server applications: Relational Databases (MySQL, Percona), DNS servers (Bind), DHCP servers (ISC dhcp), Postfix/Sendmail/Dovecot.
  • Must be able to work independently and self-directed, as well as, within a team.
  • Physical ability install/maintain server equipment that can weight up to 50lbs.
  • Scripting/programming in current languages a plus.
  • Strong positive can-do attitude.

EDUCATION AND/ EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field required
  • At least 2+ years of server/system administration of Linux and/or windows-based servers.
  • Certifications Preferred:
    • RHEL certification
    • Cisco/Juniper certification
    • VMware certification

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.
  • Ability to converse professionally and with empathy with an emphasis on owning and solving issues whilst building excellent rapport.

ALIGNMENT WITH DEPARTMENTS AND STAKEHOLDERS

Discuss and review during meetings with different departments the alignment with other departments within Technology, review existing process or task, assign resource to own the task IN ORDER TO ensure end to end process and system flow is efficient and optimized. Work closely with Network Administrators and NOC teams to coordinate changes and enhancements as well as evaluate new technologies. Coordinate with corporate IT to develop and implement policies and procedures related to information security and policy compliance

WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a standard full-time role and during select times individual will be asked to work flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
