Camera Incubation is a multi-disciplinary team responsible for looking down the road and prototyping new concepts and technologies for future imaging and multimodal sensing experiences. We collaborate with design and product teams to bring new features across the Apple product line. Join us to explore together exciting concept prototypes and see them realized in action!DescriptionWe are looking for a creative prototyping engineer with excellent practical knowledge of the applications of deep learning, and in particular generative AI, to domains including computational imaging, contextual multi-modal sensing, and camera control. A design-centric prototyping approach, and the ability to rapidly adjust to changes in investigation directions based on insights acquired from experimental data, are essential advantages. The candidate needs to be able to clearly articulate what motivates a particular approach, and its pros and cons as well as risks.Minimum QualificationsStrong background in developing generative AI algorithms for computational photography and computer visionDeveloped data-driven deep learning solutions to multimodal sensing problemsHands-on programming experience for demonstration of innovative concepts (PyTorch preferred)Self-motivated, creative innovator with a passion for bringing exciting new sensing technologies to Apple products5+ years of proven experience in applied deep learning for imaging, and an advanced degree (Ph.D./M.Sc.) in AIML/EECS or similar fieldPreferred QualificationsComfortable using state-of-the-art Transformer and Diffuser modelsKnowledge about camera acquisition controlExperienced in an iterative prototyping environmentThrives in a cross-functional work environment and is effective presenting across disciplinesPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
