Summary The Director of Alumni Relations seeks to serve all alumni and to bring them into a closer relationship with Methodist University. The incumbent shall develop and promote programs that enhance meaning to the alumni family and fulfill the mission of the University. Special attention shall be given to the senior class (Traditional and Non-Traditional), but also work with University graduate programs as they make their transition to alumni status. Leadership and planning of a Parents Program to be coordinated with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and the professional staff. Overall Objectives The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for planning and implementing activities of the Alumni Association as advised by the Senior Director for Advancement Services & Prospect Research for the purpose of broadening the base of alumni support to the University in the areas of student recruitment, financial gifts, and attendance at special events both on and off campus. Direct Reports: None Specific Accountabilities: Duties include but are not limited to: Work closely with Methodist University Alumni Association Board in coordinating and facilitating their official meetings and the annual meeting of the Alumni Association during Homecoming Week; Provide leadership and direction in developing programs which serve the constituency of the Alumni Association and Methodist University; Responsible for direction and implementation of campus programs such as the Homecoming and other appropriate alumni or University activities; Supervise and lead in organizing special events such as campus and regional activities; such programs may include events designed for students and young alumni like homecoming. Provide oversight and assistance for the Parents Association with particular attention to the organization and leadership of a parents advisory council and various campus programs designed for the families of current students; Work with volunteers in the organization and development of regional alumni chapters; Responsible for and give direction to the area of fund-raising as it pertains to alumni support of unrestricted support and general scholarships, athletic fundraising and related alumni fundraising projects. This work will be undertaken in coordination and with the approval of the office of development for the overall fundraising needs of the University; Develop, maintain and expand the records of the alumni constituency as found in the hard copy files and the electronic database; Promote ways to communicate with the alumni and parent base via the alumni/parent page on the website, e-mail and print materials such as MU Today newsletters and other means; Carry out other duties as assigned by the Senior Director for Advancement Services & Prospect Research. Education, Experience & Other Qualifications: The incumbent must have a Bachelor's Degree. Being an alumni of Methodist University is strongly preferred. The incumbent shall have a minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in education leadership or comparable career. Competency with Microsoft Office Suite products. Experience or familiarity with Raisers Edge is preferred. The incumbent should be intimately familiar with and supportive of the mission, vision, and heritage of Methodist University and be able to build relationships and work collaboratively with various constituencies and stakeholders of the institution in an effective manner. The incumbent shall demonstrate good people management, organizational and relational skills in working as a team member of the department of Institutional Advancement. The incumbent shall be effective as a public speaker in representing the University and the Alumni Association. Personal Characteristics The incumbent must possess excellent written and oral communication skills to communicate effectively with a variety of constituents to build purposeful relationships. Due to the nature of responsibilities, the incumbent must have the ability to work with a wide variety of constituents which includes alumni of all ages and parents. J-18808-Ljbffr
