What You Will Do:

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, this position will work with the Emerging Companies & Venture Capital Group practice-area partners to develop and execute on the business development activities in support of the firm's strategic initiatives.

Essential Job Requirements:
  • Act as advisor to lead partners in increasing their brand, practice and visibility and achieve their individual business goals.
  • Proactively identify and respond to appropriate new business opportunities, including opportunities for internal cross-marketing and joint business development initiatives.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of key clients and market forces, including business trends and competitive landscape.
  • Identify, assess, and pursue new clients aligned with the practice group's strategic goals.
  • Develop relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Collaborate with partners in the collection and sharing of knowledge relating to skills and experience to enhance understanding of practice area and raise client service/delivery standards.
  • Keeping pitch content, materials, and client information up-to-date and easily accessible.
  • Source, plan and execute business development events (including but not limited to speaking engagements, conference, panels).
  • Responsible for being the single point of contact for partners for marketing-related needs.
  • Mentor and develop junior business development team members
Profile Raising:
  • Identify and execute integrated branding and profile-raising campaigns.
  • Coordinate with the PR team on press releases, pitch story ideas and provide spokespeople to reporters as appropriate; track published articles and consider social media strategy around key projects.
  • Manage practice group awards and rankings, including oversight of submission to Chambers and other high-profile publications; assist in articulating key messages for directory submission and share best practices in the submission process.
Client Development:
  • Support the preparation of responses to client's request for proposals or information on the practice group and in preparing partners for business development meetings with clients and prospects.
  • Collaborating with finance to develop innovative and competitive fee arrangements.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to attorney teams by scoping and preparing for in-person meetings and pitches.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

This position requires a highly motivated, client-focused professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced, legal environment:
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a marketing / business development role, preferably in a professional services firm.
  • Proven track record of success in past roles and experiences.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to client satisfaction and builds long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of attorneys and business professionals. Possesses strong writing skills in a professional services environment.
  • Takes ownership of tasks, works independently, and demonstrates initiative in identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Prioritizes tasks effectively, meets deadlines, and manages multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong judgement and ability to make well-reasoned independent decisions.
  • Advanced understanding of strategic marketing and communications.
  • Collaborates effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across the business.
  • Poise, tact and professionalism when interacting with internal and external contacts.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Office Location: New York, NY (preferred), Palo Alto, CA or Roseland, NJ

Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday

Amount of Travel Required: Some travel between Roseland, Washington DC, CA and NY offices.

The expected salary range for candidates meeting the requirements of this position is $140,000 to $200,000 for NY/NJ and $145,000 to $220,000 for CA. The range provided is the salary that Lowenstein Sandler in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location. Our benefits package includes coverage options for medical, dental, vision, prescription drug, life insurance, disability, FSAs, 401K, and paid time off.
