Ahava Early Learning Center is Hiring

Ahava ELC is a child-centered learning space in Northwest Atlanta. Our Jewish school is dedicated to fostering the physical, emotional, social, cognitive and creative growth of young children. Our Reggio-inspired environment is spacious and filled with natural light. We are open five days a week, year-round, serving our community by providing high quality care for children through a strong commitment to learning through play. We believe that children’s social and emotional growth and readiness for learning is fostered when children are viewed through a lens of respect and competence. Children are given opportunities through our mixed-ages environment and small classroom ratios, for multi-sensory engagement and collaboration

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in ECE or a related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with groups of children in a classroom environment
  • Experience with a Reggio-Emilia inspired approach
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions or willingness to learn the basics

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, supervisors, and children
  • Working knowledge and comfort level with basic computer skills
  • Professionalism in the workplace, including a positive attitude and the ability to work as part a team
  • Flexibility in the workplace
Pedagogical
  • Strong knowledge of child development.
  • Experience developing age appropriate plans and tracking children’s progress
  • Philosophy that encourages children to take risks and develop strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong observation skills needed to guide curricular decisions
  • Demonstrated awareness of different developmental stages of infants, toddlers, and pre-school age children
  • Effective use of methods and positive language for supporting children’s social and emotional growth

  • Strong group management skills
  • Strong sense of order and ability to maintain a clean, sanitized, and well-organized classroom environment
  • Ability to actively supervise children, follow protocols for ensuring safety of children
  • Capable of exercising good judgment in accordance with established policies and procedures

  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning through reading, workshops, meetings, and more
  • Physical capabilities to perform the job (includes lifting, running, sitting on the floor, crouching, kneeling, getting up from a sitting position, standing for long periods of time)
