Hiring Manager: Tax Manager Department: Tax Department Overview
The Tax Department works very closely with Golub Capital's Fund Accounting and BDC Accounting Teams. Other important intercompany relationships include Investor Communications and Investor Relations, Strategic Accounting and Finance, Strategic Tax, Operations, the deal teams and Executive Management.
The Tax Department is responsible for managing and executing the Firm's tax reporting. These include a mix of partnerships and corporations, Registered Investment Companies, US and foreign, public and private, blockers, general partnerships and management companies. The department also facilitates the preparation and review of thousands of investor K-1s and PFIC statements. The department routinely works with the deal teams in order to provide tax structure review of all equity investments and exits. Although Golub Capital's total portfolio is mostly made up of debt investments, these equity investments are frequent and require an extreme attention to detail and professionalism. It is the mission of the Tax Department to provide timely, relevant, accurate tax reporting to Golub Capital's investors as well as to provide accurate, timely information to Executive Management to enable them to make important tax decisions on behalf of the funds.
Position Responsibilities Help facilitate the company's tax compliance for all funds and related entities. This includes partnerships, blocker corporations, BDC / RIC's, general partnerships and management companies. These entities are both US based and foreign. Achieve an understanding of Tax Department processes and procedures and update documentation as needed Assist with process improvement / automation projects Assist in reviewing tax notices from various jurisdictions Help prepare W-9s / W-8s for new entities and help maintain internal database of valid tax forms Ad-hoc projects and requests Candidate Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
Rising senior-level student attending local university interested in financial services with a strong interest in tax Pursuing CPA Ability to work full-time from mid-June to mid-August (approximately June 3rd - August 9th, 2024) Working knowledge of Excel Ability to take initiative and work independently while demonstrating strong teamwork Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, manage time and priorities under pressure and meet deadlines Strong communication skills, analytical and detail-oriented Abide by our work in-in-office policy then in effect Additional Information
Interns have a 40-hour-per-week assignment that last 10 weeks (June 2nd - August 8th) Hybrid work schedule (3 days in office) Housing assistance will be available for eligible candidates Critical Competencies for Success
