This posting will be used to fill 2 (two) vacancies
South Dakota State University is seeking two Senior Accountants to play a key role in analyzing financial data, preparing financial statements, and conducting interim reporting. The successful candidates will be familiar with GAAP and experienced with analyzing financial data.
Job Responsibilities:
To compile and analyze financial data, prepare detailed reports, provide high level of understanding of university accounting systems, and serve as a resource for department end-users in correct accounting procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of:
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Computer software and systems (i.e., Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Banner, ERP system) Financial statements and related schedules according to FASB or GASB.
Skill & Ability to:
Perform reconciliations and establish action plans to resolve financial discrepancies or errors. Prepare and review financial statements, footnote, and required supplementary information. Participate in external audits, prepare audit work papers, and assist the controller as needed. Identify areas for increasing efficiency and effectiveness; implement and document those changes while maintaining effective internal control and accurate financial information. Establish and maintain effective relationships. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications:
At least one year of experience in preparing and analyzing financial data. Advanced excel skills and experience in SQL or other data reporting tools.
