After Brightline Florida completed the first passenger rail system connecting Miami and Orlando, Brightline West was formed to connect Las Vegas and Southern California through the nation's first true high-speed, electric passenger rail system. Reaching speeds of more than 186 miles per hour, this 218-mile high-speed rail service will take passengers from Las Vegas to the Greater Los Angeles area twice as fast as the normal drive time.

YOUR PURPOSE:

Brightline is looking for a Senior Director of People & Culture to join our team and serve as the business partner to the Brightline West Team. Reporting to the Deputy CFO, in this role you will support and advocate for teammates of the Brightline West team located between Las Vegas, NV and Ontario, CA. This is a team of currently 60, with an estimated growth in 2025 to a total of 110. You will be challenged to think outside of the box, challenge the norm, and be part of building strong teammate relations.

As the Senior Director of People & Culture you will be responsible for leading the execution of people related activities in the areas of talent acquisition, performance management, talent development, workforce planning, labor and teammate relations, and training. Initially, a big part of your day-to-day will be in relationship building onsite and in-person by meeting with our teammates as you build a deep understanding of the various areas of the development project.

YOUR ROLE:

Partner with business leaders to identify their teammate needs and team objectives and collaborate with the People & Culture team to build programs that meet those objectives. Drive the design of organizational strategies and develop people solutions that will ultimately improve business results through developing high performing teams, increasing retention, and create a positive teammate experience. Serve as an empathetic advocate for teammates at all levels and directly manage the Director of Talent Acquisition. Ensure that all plans and programs are aligned with corporate strategies and objectives and are in compliance with Federal, State and local guidelines and regulations. Ensure a strong leadership and learning culture permeates the organization. Lead annual talent review and compensation planning. Provide expert advice and coaching to teammates when appropriate. Foster a culture of engagement through regular communication, recognition and ongoing teammate interactions at all levels. Coach leadership on teammate relations matters to achieve problem resolution; including investigations, mediations, focus groups, and resolution of other teammate concerns as needed. Assist in the design and implementation of People policies and procedures to support the business and improve overall teammate experience. Partner with Talent Acquisition to drive alignment and velocity on recruitment efforts. Oversee office management for the Brightline West headquarter office ensuring teammates and guests have a welcoming experience. YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 12 years of progressive corporate HR Business Partner / HR Generalist experience preferably within a fast-paced private equity backed environment Bachelor's degree in HR or related field, master's is a plus Experience working within the construction, hospitality, guest experience, transportation and/or operations sectors Experience supporting employees and candidates that need visa sponsorship. Ability to work onsite across multiple worksites required Ability to travel up to 50% between multiple locations (Miami, FL, Las Vegas, NV, and Ontario, CA for now) which may be heavier initially while relationships are built Demonstrated ability to coach and counsel senior leadership A solid understanding of all the key HR disciplines with a specific focus including direct experience in Employee Relations, Employee Engagement, Performance Management, Training & Development, Compensation, and Benefits Knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws and regulations in NV and CA Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills Experience in creative problem-solving, influencing, change management, and eliminating barriers at any organizational level Proficiency in HRIS systems (familiarity with UKG, Workday or similar system)
