Summary Incumbent serves as an IT Specialist for the En Route & Oceanic 2nd Level Engineering Group. Responsibilities The incumbent is responsible for providing technical assistance and guidance from the William J. Hughes Technical Center to En Route, Oceanic, and Decision Support field facilities. This technical assistance involves support to the resolution of site issues or problems, the installation of system modifications, and site restoration activities as required. This position is critical to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the National Airspace System (NAS). As such, incumbent participates with a team of technical representatives in the development, enhancement, planning, conducting, documenting and maintenance of various Air Traffic systems under Second Level Engineering's purview. These activities may include providing technical assistance to field personnel for the resolution of system issues including support to NAS monitoring and the Second Level Engineering Help Desk. The principal duties in this area are to provide System Administration support to various Air Traffic support systems laboratories located at William J. Hughes Technical Center and field facilities spread across the country. Duties will include designing, installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and providing innovative solutions for modernizing engineering systems to support the National Airspace System. In addition, the incumbent is responsible to ensure timely correction of the immediate problem(s) and to take steps necessary to avoid future occurrences. This requires that the incumbent coordinates activities with system engineers, system leads, and data systems personnel and ensures the logging of issues in the appropriate issue tracking data bases. The incumbent is also required to ensure issue information is communicated proper1y to all appropriate parties including headquarters, region, and upper management as required. Technical duties for this position include review and validation of system documentation to provide technical feedback to ensure the accuracy and usability of all information. Working with cyber security team to analyze and update security data calls, user account administration, data backup and recovery, supporting security audits and scans, operating system updates, system and network monitoring, security patching, installing software and hardware, disaster recovery planning, troubleshooting issues and outages, basic network switching and routing, configuration management and keeping technical leads posted with daily/weekly activities. Incumbent will perform a mixture of routine and varying assignments under the limited direction of a manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist. Acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team. Travel to sites as required for troubleshooting and resolution of site issues may be required. Applies experience and detailed technical knowledge applicable to his/her discipline to plan and accomplish assignments. Typical assignments may include system administration; collecting, recording and analyzing data/information; identifying problems; performing troubleshooting and investigation; and initiating compliance and enforcement actions.
