OCUE is actively recruiting to fill an Education Finance Specialist 1 position. Due to the outstanding vacancy the office is lacking in staff to assist with conducting the financial analyses of approximately 200 IHEs, including calculating composite scores, assist with preparing written reports and recommendations on the overall financial condition of IHEs, including any identified risks to the delivery of quality instruction or the overall financial health of the IHE. The inclusion of a temp will help increase overall productivity and increase response time to customers.
• Using the methodology prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education in 34 CFR Section 668 Subpart L and an Excel template file, use information from higher education institutions audited financial statements and accompanying notes to calculate their federal financial responsibility composite scores. • Maintain a summary file of higher education institutions’ composite scores, including adding notes to highlight irregularities or potential areas of concern. • Collect, clean, and organize data from both the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and the agency’s Information and Reporting Services’ data reports. • Use collected data to create graphs in MS Excel • Date stamp payments received by check; scan, save, and distribute copies of the payments; and deliver the checks to the appropriate staff member. • Monitor the submission of financial audits by higher education institutions to ensure that they are up-to-date and complete.
