Staff Accountant II

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: The Staff Accountant II maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. Will analyze current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze accounts, records, reports, accounts receivable and payable, journal vouchers, general and subsidiary ledgers and other accounting documents for accuracy and completeness. Investigate and resolve accounting issues for the area of responsibility.
Preparing monthly financial information utilizing the applicable support systems. Duties include journal entries, coding invoices/vouchers, reconciling the balance sheet and analyzing variances.
Maintain fixed asset and depreciation records.
May perform analyses of cost records to ascertain distribution of costs for various divisions of management and production.
May classify labor, material, and overhead costs to compute unit costs of products or services.
Analyze actual costs versus standard costs and prepare reports of variances. Compile cost data for preparation of operating budgets.
Prepares other reports and assist in special projects and analysis as required or requested by supervisor.
Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
Assists in annual budget preparation and periodic forecasts.
Supports internal customers by researching questions and investigating variances on the financial statements.
Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
Positive attitude and customer service mindset with a strong work ethic.
Strong communication and analytical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Self-starter who can work independently and execute projects efficiently.
Able to work hands on within the various departments of the organization and communicate effectively up the chain of command.
High attention to detail.
Must be able to set priorities and demonstrate sound judgement in handling problems.
Must be extremely well organized and demonstrate exceptional financial and time management skills.
Must be able to communicate effectively with clients and other professionals.
Experience with Deltek preferred
