Description of Work Unit
Consistent with Colorado State University’s land grant mission to make education accessible to all persons and groups, the Access Center develops the talents of those who have been historically underrepresented in postsecondary education (first-generation, low-income, ethnically and racially diverse, and non-traditionally aged). By utilizing effective practices, we provide quality services to communities, individuals, and institutions resulting in student success and exemplary programs guided by an ethic of community and project accountability.
Position Summary
Assist with Bridge student recruitment and outreach.
Coordinate recruitment strategies with high school counslors and precollegiant programs.
Attend high school and community events to promote the Bridge Scholars program.
Serve as Community For Excellence (C4E) Scholar Contact for CSU Bridge Scholars.
Participate in C4E meetings and trainings.
Advise and support Bridge Student Advisory Council.
Plan and coordinate workshops and seminars throughout the summer and academic sessions for Bridge Scholars.
Provide assistance with coordination of Bridge committee meetings.
Lead summer staff hiring and training, and program activity logistics.
Provide supervision, academic support, and transitional programming to incoming CSU freshmen through the 8-week summer residential experience.
Provide supervision and support of summer staff. Includes monitoring staff hours and those hours worked are correctly logged for payroll.
Assist in coordinating summer staff meeting.
Lead the planning and delivery of Bridge Program related activities, projects and special events.
Enforce Bridge Program rules and expectations such as curfew, supervised study periods, and behavior guidelines. Also enforce residence hall and university policies to ensure appropriate student participant behavior.
Act at all times with full regard for each student’s emotional and physical well-being.
Collaborate with CSU resource partners for the success of students’ persistence and student success at CSU .
Provide academic support and general academic guidance, serve as an academic resource, and encourage and motivate student’s full involvement.
Accommodate reasonable requests for extra assistance by students, within the constraints of program guidelines and scheduling.
Maintain professional and ethical relationships and boundaries with staff and student participants at all times, both during the entire length of the program and during any off-duty contact with students and staff. Coordinators must be especially sensitive to behavior or interaction with students that might appear to be improper and unprofessional.
Communicate and share with Assistant Director and Director relevant information concerning student and program issues and seek immediate assistance from Assistant Director or Director when a situation exceeds your experience or expertise, and inform such staff of any concerns regarding student participant behavior, including sickness, absences, drug use, etc.
Complete and submit all required receipts and other documentation to the Access Center administrative accounting staff member and any other paperwork that may be required for documentation purposes upon request and by the designated deadline or timeframe.
Notes: Available personal, reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and willingness and ability to drive a 12-passenger van. May be asked to drive students on day trips or overnight trips throughout the state of Colorado.
Ability to work irregular work hours when necessary, including nights, weekends, and overnight events.
Required Job Qualifications
Master’s Degree in related fieldORa Bachelor’s Degree in related field with one year professional experience advising, supervising and/or mentoring youth from historically under-represented backgrounds, first-generation background or low socio-economic communities within an educational setting.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate student learning through academic and student development activities and workshops
Demonstrated effective communication skills (including ability to present effectively, write clearly, and demonstrate proficient use of computer applications)
Demonstrated community relations skills including the ability to develop and maintain relationships between and amongst the students, programs, community and CSU partners.
Experience with Record keeping and data management abilities such as: maintaining records regarding program activities and student eligibility, performance, and submitting reports regarding student outcomes.
Experience working with target population including first-year college students and high school students from first-generation/ low-income communities.
Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) desirable
