Position Description: Hospital: Location: Summit Medical Center Address: 5655 Frist Boulevard Unit Name: PCU Building: Cost Center: 630/633 General Information Unit Specifics: · Number of Beds : 630 has 34 beds/ 633 has 25 · Patient Ratios : 1:4 to 1:5 on days, 1:5 to 1:6 on nights · Unit staffing description- (unit secretaries and tech availability) : 3 techs when full on 630 and 2 techs when full on 633 · Type of equipment : bipaps, high flow o2, vapotherm, alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, peritoneal dialysis. Wound vacs in conjunction with wound care · Documentation system: Meditech · Scheduling requirements: every other weekend requirement for contract, 3 12 hour shifts a week · Floating policy: may have to float in between PCU units or float to med-surg floors · Patient Experience requirements: hourly rounding on days, every 2 hour rounding on nights, AIDET and keeping up with communication boards on 7 th floor. Dept 633 has tv communication boards. Hospital Specifics- · Certifications: BLS, ACLS Hiring profile Requested Skill Set: Must have : Critical thinking skills, EKG rhythm interpretation, cardiac drip, insulin drip and heparin drip experience. Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred and peripheral iv skills. Advanced skills needed: ACLS. Experience with bipaps, high flow 02 and multiple oxygen delivery systems. Experience with stroke and post cardiac cath care. Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred. Experience with tube feedings and NG/dobhoff tubes. Procedures performed on unit: Peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, dobhoff/NG tube insertions, central line dressing changes. Trouble shooting wound vacs Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS Dress Code : (Required uniform) · Black Scrubs Unit Guidelines/Policies : Please attach unit specific policies and guidelines. · Awards/Recognition: Please include anything that you would like prospective candidates to be aware of, such as, links to videos that feature the department, outstanding department/team awards.. · Any additional information that would entice a worker to select your unit for their assignment: Unit does self scheduling. Schedules are 4 weeks, and contract are required to work every other weekend. Utilize techs to care for the patients and assist in care. Most travelers extend after the first time on PCU. Care like family culture on PCU and great teamwork
