The Intern, working under direct supervision, is a member of the CL Underwriting Practices team. The role is responsible for insurance data compilation, report development, and data analysis focused on our small business underwriting segment. The work will support recommendations to improve submission flow, risk segmentation (hazard and quality), portfolio profit, revenue generation, and straight-through processing. The role actively participates in training programs and workshops to enhance their skills and knowledge. The role collaborates with colleagues and stakeholders, actively participates in team meetings, and demonstrates problem-solving skills. The intern maintains professionalism, builds their professional network, seeks feedback, and continuously seeks opportunities for improvement during the internship. #LI-DNI Assists CL Underwriting Practices: Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to risk selection, production, and profitability. Develop and maintain reports that provide industry risk segmentation and account quality insights. Identify trends and patterns in data that impact business decisions. Develop data-driven strategies to enhance risk management and profitability. Compile straight-through processing data to improve agency experience and underwriting efficiency.

Participates in training programs, workshops, and on-the-job learning opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to the field or industry of the internship. Participates in summer internship program events, including Lunch and Learns. Completes assigned tasks and projects efficiently and effectively, following instructions and guidelines provided by supervisors or mentors. Conducts research, gathers data, and analyzes information relevant to the internship focus or assigned projects. Takes responsibility for administrative and support tasks of the department. Collaborates with colleagues, supervisors, and other stakeholders to effectively communicate progress, challenges, and ideas, and actively participates in team meetings or discussions. Works on projects that provide opportunity to collaborate with other interns as well as associates in other departments, ranging from data analysis to mentors. Identifies and resolves issues or challenges that arise during the internship, demonstrating problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to finding solutions. Demonstrates professionalism, punctuality, and a strong work ethic by being reliable, responsible, and maintaining a positive attitude towards assigned responsibilities. Develops business skills in communication and shadowing other professionals. Maintaining accurate records, documenting progress, and preparing reports or presentations as required by the internship program or supervisors. Attends business unit meetings as assigned and creates and delivers presentations. Seeks feedback from supervisors or mentors, actively seeking opportunities for improvement, and applying learning to enhance performance throughout the internship.

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and/or commensurate experience. Either actively enrolled in an academic institution in pursuit of a degree in a relevant course of study or is a recent college graduate, typically having attained a degree within the past 12 months. For field roles, only: Valid driver's license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.
