The Role: Sensus, a Xylem brand is looking for a Senior Front End Java Developer with a desire to get in on the ground floor of a team delivering Big Data applications in the Cloud. We’re focused on helping utility companies visualize and make use of the reams of data coming in from their smart meters so they can lower costs and reduce consumption. We’re looking for people who have a passion for designing and building outstanding user interfaces, working with cutting-edge technology, aren't afraid to take a different approach to solving technical problems, and are able to change directions quickly as the business environment moves. If this sounds interesting, and you like working in a start-up environment, then we want to talk with you Our Atlanta office is located in the historic Biltmore building, across from Georgia Tech’s campus, walking distance to several great restaurants and centrally located to the MARTA. We allow for flexible hours and some telecommuting options, but you should be in office most days. Essential Functions: Participate in the design and development process from definition to deployment. Develop cutting-edge technologies to improve our software offering. Take on challenging tasks as needed with an eagerness to develop skills in new areas. Bring to the job an excitement and work ethic on par for a startup technology firm. Minimum Qualifications: 3 years of experience designing responsive web apps for use in everything from smartphones to desktops. 3 years of experience developing web pages using HTML/CSS/Javascript and frameworks such as Bootstrap, JQuery Experience with AngularJS Strong experience with Java coding for the front end. 5 years work experience in the field as a developer Java experience using an MVC framework such as Spring, Struts, etc. A degree preferred in Computer Science with an emphasis in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, or Cognitive Psychology; or demonstrated experience designing high quality commercial software. Preferred Qualifications: Agile methodology, or similar lean startup approach to building software MongoDB, Hadoop, or other noSQL datastore Working with cloud-based environments, particularly AWS Additional Information: Physical Demands Light lifting (20-25 lbs.), office environment Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility Regularly required to listen, talk to, and see employees on a daily basis.
