Overview Summary Responsible for the entire indirect tax compliance & reporting function for Lewis Energy Group LP and its affiliates. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Oversee compliance and reporting of sales & use, gross receipts, direct pay, motor fuels excise, HEIT, and severance tax returns for LEG and affiliates. Represents all entities in indirect tax audits initiated by the Texas Comptroller or other taxing authorities. Identifies indirect tax refunds and tax savings opportunities for various entities. Performs historical indirect tax exposure reviews. Researches and advises leadership of tax implications on acquisitions and divestitures. Develops and implements process improvements related to indirect tax matters. Oversee processes related to obtaining and securing severance tax exemptions & refunds. Works with and trains procurement & accounts payable departments on indirect tax matters. Primary contact point for taxability questions from internal departments. Manages unclaimed property compliance and audits. Tax liaison for indirect tax 3rd party consultants. A.) or equivalent; minimum ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook. Experience with Enertia software. Experience with tax research tools/libraries such as: BNA, STARS Certificates, Licenses, Registrations CPA or CMI certification preferred, but not required. Other Skills and Abilities Oil and Gas - Exploration & Production industry experience required; Hands-on self-starter which has the ability to work autonomously and design and implement procedures for all matters pertaining to Indirect Tax; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Thorough understanding of Texas Sales and Use Tax laws and procedures and filings; Researches laws and regulations to support tax decisions on complex issues involving transactions taxes in the U.S.; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Collaborative; ability to work well in teams and lead projects; Strong interpersonal skills; Strong attention to detail; Time management and organization.
