Salary: $53,325.00 - $71,100.00 Annually Location : Normal Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 202300204 Department: Information Technology Services Opening Date: 01/26/2024 Description Summary: Reporting to the Cloud Infrastructure & Systems Director, the Systems Specialist will provide operational support and maintenance for web-based applications and databases. Provide installation and support of server hardware, Microsoft server operating systems, Microsoft active directory, VMware, Microsoft Exchange, strong working knowledge of IP networks are a plus. Supports department systems requirements and objectives. Consultants with system users and makes software and/or hardware recommendations. Installs and/or develops customized software as required. Troubleshoot, maintain Active Directory groups and applied group. Excellent customer support skills as well as the ability to work in a team environment. This is a regular, full-time, salaried, benefits-eligible position, and it is campus-based. The System Specialist will participate in a rotating coverage schedule on university holidays, after hours and weekends. Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot network servers (Windows and Linux) Set up AD accounts and configure workstations for users as needed Remote support and troubleshooting of Windows, ERP, and productivity software. Respond to equipment failures, software break fixes, software installation, moves and configuration changes. Maintain accurate information and data regarding end-user issues in systems according to policies and standards. Troubleshoot issues and outages on production systems Deliver software installs/support/administration through Domain administration Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls Upgrade IT systems with new releases and security patches Maintain department file servers, i.e. backups, additions deletions of users, etc. Offer Tier 2 support for IT Infrastructure related services tickets as necessary. Work with Senior Systems Administrator implementing new server technologies Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend any required meetings Create SOPs, documentation, training documentation and other technical documents Support and monitor data center and monitoring equipment. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.): Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience. At least four years of working experience within infrastructure and/or service desk or related area. Must be able to safely lift up to 75 pounds in support of hardware installations.
