About the Role: The organization is seeking a Business Development Manager to join its corporate team in either San Antonio, Texas, or Frederick, Maryland. This position will concentrate on enhancing the company’s market presence, particularly within the Federal and Department of Defense (DoD) sectors, by identifying and securing new business opportunities. This role offers an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, contributing directly to the growth strategy and overall success of the organization. Key Responsibilities: - Market Positioning and Strategy: Establish corporate market positioning by identifying, developing, and securing Federal business opportunities. Implement a growth strategy for the designated domain to meet sales and revenue objectives. - Opportunity Pipeline: Create and maintain an active pipeline of opportunities by identifying both competitive targets and 8(a) sole-source targets to fulfill strategic growth objectives. - Relationship Management: Actively pursue and secure strategic relationships with new customers and partners while simultaneously maintaining and nurturing existing relationships. - Teaming and Collaboration: Direct the selection of teaming partners for opportunities; support proposal team efforts by contributing to the development of solutions, win themes, and proposal writing strategies. - Proposal Management: Oversee Bid and Proposal efforts for assigned domains and work collaboratively with the proposal team to develop response formats and structures. - Research and Networking: Engage in Federal and DoD market research and networking activities by attending Industry Days, pre-proposal conferences, and collecting relevant information. - Travel Requirement: This role necessitates 25-35% travel. Required Qualifications: - Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required. - Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Business Development Manager or Capture Manager for a Federal or DoD contractor. Proven experience in developing service-based proposals for DoD or Federal customers. A strong background in utilizing federal opportunity sourcing tools such as SAM.gov, FedConnect, and Deltek GovWinIQ is essential. - Skills: Demonstrated experience in formulating and executing bid strategies. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including proficiency in presentations. Competence in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, and SharePoint. Strong capabilities in multitasking, strategic analysis, and critical thinking. Desired Skills: Familiarity with 8(a) Federal contracting methods is preferred. Training or knowledge of Shipley methodologies is advantageous. Experience in one or more of the following domains is desirable: - Information Technology - Cybersecurity - Data Systems, Data Analytics, Data Modernization - Professional Services (e.g., Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance) - Instructional Design and Training Development/Delivery - Logistics
