Overview One of America's largest retailers is seeking a growth-oriented Paralegal. The successful candidate must have extensive knowledge and experience to support asset/stock acquisitions and dispositions along with real estate acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and leasing transactions. The role plays an integral part in the success of an active transactional team and requires leadership, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong work ethic. Responsibilities Assisting the attorneys with due diligence review on proposed transactions including title commitments, surveys, zoning reports, environmental assessments, property condition reports, and other due diligence items, as well as coordinating with the vendors providing such services Assisting the attorneys with the preparation of closing documents, including drafting deeds and bills of sale and delivering packages into escrow Creating and monitoring transaction timelines and checklists Keeping multiple transactions on schedule for closing Identifying potential legal issues that may arise in real estate transactions and reporting such to the legal and business teams Coordinating earnest money deposits with escrow agents Handling delivery of legal correspondence, including preparation of cover letters as necessary Maintaining an electronic database of closing and due diligence files Preparing lease abstracts Critical Success Factors Detail-oriented with an ability to quickly and accurately synthesize information and apply it to a broader context; excellent judgment, knows when to escalate internally and request external support Strong analytical ability, with an ability to proactively determine, prioritize, and resolve issues Strong planning and organizational skills, ability to effectively build and maintain relationships, and communicate effectively to ensure timely project completion Ability to work under pressure and prioritize and manage workload and simultaneous tasks while meeting deadlines, maintaining organization and attention to detail in a dynamic, fast-paced environment Creative and resourceful; energized by new challenges and opportunities Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or certificate in paralegal studies or other relevant legal education or significant paralegal experience, preferably at a large firm, title company, or in-house legal department 8 years of general commercial real estate experience Superior technical skills including being able to prepare and redline documents in Microsoft Word; working knowledge of Excel; experience with Visual Lease a plus
