The Hardware Reliability team is dedicated to ensuring the robustness and dependability of hardware systems in the Aurora hardware stack. Our team is responsible for designing tests, and validating the hardware components that form the backbone of Aurora’s autonomous systems, ensuring they meet the highest Automotive standards of performance and durability under field conditions. This role will focus on system level reliability at both the vehicle level and integrated systems of interest.In this role, you willDevelop and implement reliability testing protocols for hardware components in autonomous vehicles to ensure optimal performance across various environmental conditions.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineering, data science, and vehicle operations, to identify, diagnose, and resolve hardware-related issues impacting vehicle and fleet reliability.Analyze field data from a fleet of autonomous vehicles to identify trends, predict potential hardware failures, and initiate corrective actions.Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes for hardware-related failures, ensuring data integrity and continuity across the fleet.Create and maintain documentation on reliability testing results, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to support continuous improvement initiatives.Provide technical support and guidance on hardware reliability issues to internal teams and external partners.Required QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hardware reliability engineering, preferably in the automotive, aerospace, or related industries.Strong understanding of reliability testing methodologies, statistical analysis, and root cause analysis techniques.Experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python) and familiarity with hardware debugging and diagnostic tools.Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.The base salary range for this position is $181,000 - $290,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
