is a trusted provider of high-quality, affordable reproductive health care along California’s Central Coast. Each year, PPCCC provides 35,000 people on the central coast with health care services; including sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, birth control, breast and cervical cancer screenings, vasectomies, and safe and legal abortion care at our six health center locations. PPCCC also provides comprehensive sexuality education programs to help adults and teens make healthy decisions, prevent unintended pregnancies, and avoid sexually transmitted infections. JOB SUMMARY: In support of our mission, the Director of Finance provides leadership and oversees the organization’s financial operations. This position requires the development of collaborative working relationships within the finance area as well as across departments as necessary for effective performance. The Director of Finance provides financial guidance for strategic decision-making, is responsible for overseeing the financial department and its operations, and ensures continuous process improvements to maintain a compliant Finance department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Oversees monthly ledger closing, including preparation of financial reports (P&L), reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, and preparation of balance sheet and cash flow statement. Will develop and prepare other monthly reports on an ongoing basis. Collaborates with Community Engagement to ensure the accuracy of the assignment of expenses between Planned Parenthood California Central Coast and Planned Parenthood Central Coast Action Fund. Oversees the distribution of timely, complete and accurate internal reports (monthly/annual financial statements and analyses) for budget center managers and external reports to funders, donors, Finance Committee, Board of Directors, government/legal contacts, other stakeholders (Medicaid cost report, DOH reports, IRS filings, PPFA reports) and other reports as needed. Establishes and maintains written accounting procedures necessary to ensure an appropriate level of internal control and accurate financial information. Works with other departments to ensure that internal controls are in place to produce accurate financial records as well as other projects on an as-needed basis. Ensures appropriate internal controls are in place to properly control and safeguard cash disbursements. Responsible for managing the bi-weekly payroll processing function ensuring efficient systems, processes and controls. Works closely with Human Resources to ensure accuracy of payroll and management of timekeeping and payroll system. Lead and perform process improvement, automation and standardization of practices that result in accurate, efficient, and compliant financial operations. Oversees accounts payable and ensures invoices are paid appropriately within a timely manner. Supports processing of electronic approvals and payments in the department. Completes weekly positive pay file for banking and communicates cash needs to CFO to ensure appropriate cash flow. Supports the development of the annual operating and capital budgets for each location and by program including monthly variance reports and analysis and loading into the accounting system. Provides support and analysis for long-term financial plans. Collaborates with the Revenue Cycle Director the flow of financial data from the billing system to the accounting records to ensure accurate financial reporting. Collaborates with the Philanthropy Department to accurately track all revenue and grant expenses to ensure appropriate use of funds. Oversees preparation of billings and invoices for all grants. Other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as a member of the Core Management Team Supervises Financial Analyst, Staff Accountant and Accounting Specialist QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving skills resulting in the solutions to technical problems. Knowledge of non-profit accounting systems is highly desirable. Attention to detail is essential. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to both analyze financial data and develop solutions to the problems encountered along with solid written and verbal communication skills is required. Ability to supervise and direct the work of others. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is preferred. At least 3 years of management experience is required. Experience in Finance and/or Business Administration and five to seven years of experience in the accounting field, or equivalent education and experience, is required. Previous experience in a health care setting is preferred. Knowledge of Great Plains accounting software is desired. Advanced use of Excel, Axxess and other analytical software. Position requires strong analytical capability and knowledge of computerized accounting systems and spreadsheets. Each position has a salary based on market value and the organization’s pay levels.
The starting salary range for this position is $132,201/year
