position. WORK SCHEDULE 100% FTE – 40 hours per week Day Shift – UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 07:00 – 16:00 (PST), Monday-Friday DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION UW Medicine IT Services (ITS)
is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Hybrid opportunity Values-based work environment Active departmental Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee 15 days of vacation your first year – Also, 12 days of sick time, 1 personal holiday, and 11 paid holidays each year 100% matching, 100% immediately vesting 403(b) PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees management, maintenance, implementations, upgrades, support, and enhancements of the enterprise clinical systems such that they meet performance and availability standards. Plans IT services in conjunction with clinical departmental leadership to ensure that systems and services meet business and operational needs. Responsible for positioning the organization with appropriate information technology applications to react to changing healthcare demands. Research marketplace keeping current on technology platforms that could be vital for UW Medicine and monitors strategic marketplace trends. Ensures the development and implementation of systems which support the effective and efficient flow of patient information across that system and maximize financial and clinical performance. Works with direct report Managers on growth and development of staff and managers. Works with all levels of leadership across UW Medicine, partnering with organizational leadership to create strategies and roadmaps for the implementation and utilization of technology applications. Works with physicians and employees across the organization. Oversees a large application systems group, the human resource processes for the staff, including justification requests for new positions, filling vacancies, and advancement of other HR processes. Ensures implementations are on time and on budget. Maintains external relationships with vendors to ensure value and quality from purchased services and systems, including contract negotiations. Serves as a next level of escalation to manage difficult service situations effectively. Drives continual process improvement in the delivery of application services. Applies strong knowledge of healthcare operations, proven communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and management skills. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience. 10+ years of experience which should include: 6+ years’ experience leading and managing technology and/or business professionals at the manager level or above. 5+ years’ experience managing customer and vendor relationships. Experience with applications leadership and the transformation of applications in a hospital environment is required. Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities with proven ability to influence in matrix environment. Demonstrated ability to navigate highly complex regulatory environment. Proven ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and provide guidance and leadership to professional personnel. Experience with multiple clinical systems including Epic. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
