Labor and Employment Attorney

Job Overview: A reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Labor and Employment Attorney to join its team in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will bring at least 7 years of experience in labor and employment law, with a focus on both litigation and client counseling. This role involves advising clients on a wide range of employment-related matters, including discrimination, harassment, wage disputes, and compliance with state and federal laws. Location: Chicago, IL Duties: Represent clients in labor and employment-related litigation, including defending claims of discrimination, wrongful termination, harassment, and wage and hour disputes. Handle negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations on behalf of clients. Represent clients before administrative agencies such as the EEOC, DOL, and NLRB. Provide legal counsel on compliance with state and federal employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, and employee benefits. Assist clients in developing and implementing workplace policies and procedures. Conduct investigations into employee complaints and workplace disputes. Provide training and guidance to clients on managing employees, avoiding litigation, and handling sensitive workplace issues. Stay updated on changes in labor and employment law, advising clients proactively on potential business impacts. Requirements: Minimum 7 years of experience in labor and employment law, with a focus on litigation and client counseling. Strong background in defending claims related to discrimination, harassment, wage and hour disputes, and wrongful termination. Proven experience in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and handling administrative matters before agencies like the EEOC, DOL, and NLRB. In-depth understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations. Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain lasting client relationships. Education: J.D. from an accredited law school. Certifications: Licensed to practice law in Illinois. Skills: Excellent understanding of labor and employment law. Proven ability to manage complex litigation and administrative matters. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop effective client relationships. Proficient in handling sensitive and confidential information.
