Our client, a leading healthcare organization, is seeking a Director of Reimbursement Accounting to join the team. This is a well established organization that offers a stable work environment.
Job Summary:
The Director of Reimbursement Accounting leads and oversees the comprehensive reporting, analysis, and management of net patient revenue and accounts receivable for both facility and professional services. This position ensures the accurate and timely completion of monthly and annual financial reporting, audit coordination, and cost report preparation. The Director works closely with internal teams and external auditors, supports the Medicare and third-party cost report processes, and contributes to long-term planning and budgeting activities.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule. Target base salary is 140k-175k.
Essential Functions and Duties:
Direct all aspects of monthly revenue activity related to net patient revenue, including contractual allowances and bad debt.
Manage and respond to compliance audits, both internal and external, related to patient revenue.
Apply zero-based patient accounts reporting from EPIC to ensure contractual allowances accurately reflect accrued net patient revenue.
Collaborate with the revenue cycle team to address accounting and reimbursement needs, ensuring proper revenue allocation and bad debt allowances.
Calculate and record net patient accounts receivable and third-party reserves in accordance with established models and analysis.
Reconcile and monitor Due to Third Party reimbursement balance sheet accounts.
Ensure data used for cost reports is auditable, verifiable, and well-documented.
Partner with external consultants to manage and resolve cost report appeals.
Coordinate reimbursement audits conducted by Medicare and other third-party entities, preparing federal appeal documentation for unresolved issues.
Develop complex financial models for the annual net patient revenue budget, leveraging data from EPIC and the budgeting system.
Serve as the primary contact for all matters related to net patient revenue accounting.
Manage reimbursement vendors, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in compliance with requirements.
Identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost efficiency.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; CPA or MBA preferred.
7+ years of finance and accounting experience in hospital, healthcare, or non-profit organizations.
5-7 years of progressively increasing management responsibility.
Experience managing multi-site and multi-entity operations.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with EPIC systems is an advantage.
