Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The mission of the School of Nursing is to enhance and improve the health and well-being of the people of North Carolina and the nation, and, as relevant and appropriate, the people of other nations, through its programs of education, research, and scholarship, and through clinical practice and community service. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing has been the leader in nursing education in North Carolina throughout its history. Established in 1950, it was the first school of nursing in North Carolina to offer a four-year baccalaureate nursing degree program followed by the first master's degree program, the first continuing education program for nurses, first doctoral program, and first accelerated BSN option to students with college degrees. Today, the School is renowned for its academic programs, its research and its commitment to clinical and community service within state, national and global communities.
Position Summary This position resides in the Office of Academic Affairs which provides a home for the School of Nursing academic programs. This position provides support specifically for the leadership of the Pre-licensure Program. This includes but is not limited to: assisting with the entry of course assignments for teaching, coordinating classroom support, management of specific student- and course-related data and assisting with curricular and program reviews. This position also provides administrative support to the Assistant Dean for the Prelicensure Program and manages the daily activities of the office. The responsibilities of this position include:* Program administration for students in the program* Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Dean* Assist with temporary, part-time faculty recruitment activities which include contacting and initial screening for candidates, providing administrative support to undergraduate faculty search committees, coordinating faculty orientation activities within the division, and assisting with the monitoring of part-time, temporary faculty compliance required for the program and/or clinical agencies.* Initiation of letters for temporary, part-time faculty contracts and graduate teaching assistant appointments; and maintaining the Teaching Assignment Management System (TAMS) as it is related to Prelicensure courses.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience The selected candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with individuals at all levels. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, self-motivated, ability to work independently, ability to multi-task, and excellent problem solving skills. The selected candidate will support the Assistant Dean with reviewing incoming and drafting correspondences, coordinating program meetings, and maintaining Assistant Dean's calendar, travel arrangements, itineraries, and classroom needs. This position will support and manage the Prelicensure program, student data forms, and event planning. The selected candidate must be able to compose faculty and graduate student appointment letters in a timely manner, and prepare/analyze program reports
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Previous experience in a higher education setting preferred. Basic knowledge of University and School policies, procedures, and curriculum related to the School of Nursing's academic programs; working knowledge of FERPA and licensure requirements designated by NCBON; basic knowledge of policies, procedures, and protocols specific to certifying agencies and accrediting bodies.Working knowledge of systems such as Concur Travel, TAMS teaching management system, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint, PeopleAdmin, Infoporte, online medical libraries/pulling articles, and/or Carolina Talent are a plus.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
