About the Role

Avenue Z is seeking a strategic and experienced Associate Director with a focus on public affairs and high-profile reputational management. In this leadership role, the Associate Director will lead strategic communication initiatives related to civil society, public advocacy, and personal image management for high-profile individuals, including celebrities. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of lobbying, government relations, and financial services, particularly within big tech and media industries. A background in consultancies or experience in public office, municipal, or state agencies, is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Public Affairs Leadership:

Oversee high-profile client accounts focused on public affairs, civil society issues, and personal image management, ensuring the execution of complex communication strategies. Lead advocacy and public relations campaigns that involve collaboration with public and private sectors, lobbying efforts, and government relations. Manage reputational issues and crisis communication for high-profile clients, ensuring timely and strategic responses. Content Development:

Craft and refine key messaging, including pitches, press releases, op-eds, and policy briefs that support public and private advocacy campaigns. Collaborate on content that highlights thought leadership in the areas of civil society, corporate responsibility, and public-private partnerships. Strategic Development:

Develop and execute strategic communication plans that address the intersection of media, government relations, and public perception for clients in industries such as big tech, media, and financial services. Contribute to the development of new business strategies and outreach, particularly in public affairs, government relations, and financial communications. Stakeholder and Team Management:

Act as the primary point of contact for client relations, ensuring that all communications and strategies align with the client's objectives. Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff, fostering growth in public affairs and reputational management. Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to ensure cohesive execution of multi-faceted communication programs. Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or relevant sectors such as fintech, tech, or media. Proven track record of managing high-profile reputational issues, advocacy, and crisis communications. Experience working with consultancies or in public office or municipal/state agencies is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of lobbying, public/private advocacy, and government relations. Exceptional writing, communication, and presentation skills, with an ability to distill complex topics into clear, actionable messages. Bachelor's degree required, with advanced degrees (Master's/MBA) a plus. Benefits:
