Deadline to apply: December 9,2024 Pay Grade 16 Position Summary Leads cross functional teams to assure projects and programs are delivered within scope, schedule, and budget. Leads transmission & substation programs, process improvements and selected distribution projects to ensure the successful execution. Tasks and Responsibilities Leads the Facility General Routing and Siting process for Transmission & Substation facilities (i.e. meetings with landowners, public open house events, internal and external interest groups, etc.) Leads transmission & substation programs, process improvements and selected distribution projects to ensure the successful execution. Leads cross functional teams to assure projects and programs are delivered within scope, schedule and budget. Leads process improvement teams related to improving project delivery. Manages schedules, critical paths and their variances in order to complete projects in a timely manner. Manages project risks including those related to compliance with CPS Energy policies and procedures while coordinating the work of various CPS departments, internal resources, external agencies, consultants and contractors. When required, meet with customers, state and local agencies, civic associations, business and community leaders, property owners and attorneys. Read and interpret construction design / contract documents and determine if a contractor will be able to complete projects as stated. Assists with integration of resources and budgets for capital expenditures and coordinate project closeout. Performs various analytical related works as required, such as project budget, costs, and schedule projections. Tracks contract administration and resource scheduling for capital projects. Provides timey notification and resolution of project changes and risks. Reports achievement of financial and operating goals and provide regular progress reports and project updates in accordance with accepted project management best practices and procedures. Participates in EDS Monthly Project Update meetings. Identifies and encourages safe working practices. Participates in and provides input to area budget Makes frequent independent decisions and recommendations that affect the section, department, and/or division Provides input and/or assists with the review and evaluation of lower level personnel Provides project management support to other work areas Leads cross-functional teams, coordinating with other related areas to complete project tasks Performs other project and process improvement initiatives as assigned
Minimum Skills Minimum Knowledge and Abilities Experience designing, leading or project-managing substation, transmission, distribution, and/or electric utility projects Ability to apply a broad knowledge of project management methodologies, practices and procedures Ability to handle a broad range of project management assignments with minimum supervision Ability to recommend and implement improvements to processes and procedures Strong people skills, with bias for a collaborative working style Demonstrated ability to manage project costs, timeline, scope, and risks Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution Holds PMP Certification and/or passed Principles and Practice of Engineer Strong planning and analytical skills; ability to assess complex situations, make decisions and manage projects from start to a positive outcome. Experience in Utility industry Consulting experience
Competencies Working with Ambiguity Serving Customers Communicates Effectively Setting a Strategic Vision Driving for Results Minimum Education Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering Bachelor's Degree in related field from an ABET accredited university Required Certifications Working Environment Work is performed indoors & outdoors. Manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of computing equipment, telephone, & printer/copier. Ability to travel to and from business related events. After hours work may be required. Physical Demands Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking & standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
