About the Internship: This is a up to 12 months, full-time software engineering internship (40 hours/week) located at 4751 Wilshire Blvd 100, Los Angeles, CA 90010. Successful interns will have the opportunity to be considered for a full-time position upon completion of college. The internship offers hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers on challenging projects within the financial industry. You will be fully integrated into a development team, receiving mentorship and managerial support throughout your tenure. Role Overview: As a Software Engineering Intern, you will contribute to the improvement of our backend data and application software, directly impacting the customer experience. The major role responsibilities of this job includes: Participating in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance. Developing and maintaining applications and tools to enhance data quality, integration, performance, QA, and operations. Collaborating with business teams to define requirements and translate them into functional software. Integrating with various financial institutions and third-party systems. Supporting and maintaining mission-critical business applications, related custom applications and scripts. Conducting program analysis, coding, testing, and implementing new applications. Primary Responsibilities: Contribute to the design, development, and testing of backend applications using Java and other relevant technologies. Improve data quality and integration processes. Develop and maintain tools to enhance operational efficiency and performance. Collaborate with team members to resolve technical challenges. Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving team coding standards. At the end of your internship, you will be asked to present a project that you have completed successfully. Qualifications: Undergraduate students from accredited four-year college or university, currently in their second or third year. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Strong academic record demonstrated by GPA and relevant coursework. Demonstrated software engineering experience through previous internships, work experience, coding competitions, or school projects. Portfolio examples are highly encouraged. Ability to define problem statements, outline solutions, and account for trade-offs and edge cases. Proficiency in at least one industry-standard programming language (C/C++, Java, Python, or JavaScript etc.). Knowledge or Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Batch, SQL databases, or cloud technologies (AWS or GCP) is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team. Strong interest in the financial services industry.
