Kaiser Permanente / The Southeast Permanente Medical Group (TSPMG) is excited to add a full-time (hybrid) Accountant II to our team. Under the direction of the Controller and Manager of Accounting, the Accountant is responsible for the completion of the month-end closing process and reconciliations for General Accounting (i.e., prepaids, banking, investments, accruals, intercompany, etc.) and audit tasks. The month-end duties include the proper and timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger (GL) in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), TSPMG and Kaiser Permanente policies and internal control standards. The accountant will handle the hearing aids maintenance, processing, and help to resolve vendor related matters. Under limited supervision, additional duties will include analyzing and researching account transactions in the GL and AP systems, preparing varying levels of account reconciliations, completing detailed auditors' PBCs (prepared by client), preparing and tracking accounting statements, and multiple billings, locums' maintenance, variance analysis, census reporting, and financial reports (i.e., Accounting Close Package). The accountant will perform certain treasury assignments related to making timely bank deposits, 401K/Schwab wires, as well as retiree and FSA disbursements. Minimum Education B.S. in Accounting or Finance from accredited college or university Preferred Education MBA not required but preferred Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications 2-4 years or more of experience in accounting Experience in Oracle, Peoplesoft or large ERP system Experience MS Office Suite, in particularly Excel Self-starter, detail-oriented, and solid team player Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications 2-3 years of accounting experience within healthcare industry Experience with Oracle or Peoplesoft system preferred Experience using Blackline preferred Intermediate knowledge with Excel (i.e., pivots, lookups, etc.) Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions Responsible for both identifying and providing timely, accurate, relevant, and actionable information to management as directed regarding all aspects of the company's financial performance. Responsible to perform relevant month-end close duties and general ledger maintenance with limited supervision, including entries, FTEs, and assistance with the monthly Accounting Financial Package. Through detailed analysis and investigation, the accountant will gain and use comprehensive understanding of GL account balances and impacting transactions. Responsible for completion and maintenance of varying levels of balance sheet reconciliations to provide insight on company's statement of financial position. Provide assistance with the research and submission of auditor's requests, along with fielding basic auditors questions, as needed. Responsible for retrieval of data, organization of data into information, interpretation of data and its meaning, aggregation of large amounts of data, facilitation of business owners to understand the data and results. Some ad hoc requests, as necessary. Facilitation and maintenance of reports and reporting relationships with internal and external customers and contacts, including, but not limited to hearing aids, locum's vendor, census bureau, financial banking institutions, The Permanente Federation, and our Healthplan partners.
