The Virtualization Administrator is responsible for the setup and maintenance of the IT virtual environment. This includes creating, deploying, and maintaining network, server, and storage infrastructure that relies on VMware products. The Virtualization Administrator will also be responsible for ensuring security and compliance, troubleshooting potential issues, and effectively communicating and addressing problems, as well as establish backup and recovery procedures and maintaining documentation. In this role, you will also assist the Tier 1 and Tier 2 Helpdesk staff in providing end-user support, troubleshooting problems with Local Area Networks, license tracking, performing PC maintenance, PC upgrades, PC configurations, and other duties as required. Responsibilities : Implement Infrastructure: The Virtualization Administrator is responsible for building and installing computer infrastructure, which encompasses virtual storage, hardware, servers, and virtual machines, using a VMware vSphere environment. Afterward, they configure it for production by creating user accounts, controlling access to networks, and managing storage and security settings. Perform Maintenance: Software must go through regular maintenance, and it's up to the Virtualization Administrator to monitor client systems daily and pinpoint problem areas. They proactively design and install upgrades, releases, and application patches. On a less frequent basis, they also update drivers, servers, and firmware with newer technology. Provide Technical Support: To always provide technical support to clients, the Virtualization Administrator will participate in an on-call schedule with the rest of the IT staff. They must respond promptly to issues reported by clients, conducting root cause analysis and going through various testing scenarios for thorough resolution. Recommend Solutions: The Virtualization Administrator will participate heavily in planning the IWT infrastructure alongside IT management. This entails gathering system data, researching possible solutions, developing, and presenting their design ideas, and thoughtfully evaluating suggestions from others. In addition, they evaluate industry trends and assist in implementing standards and best practices. Create Documentation: The Virtualization Administrator must create and maintain documentation for all system-related processes and procedures that they're in charge of, including project requirements, changes and upgrades, implementation plans, and support tickets. Another paperwork-heavy task is creating summary reports for internal management. Mandatory Qualifications: Reside in Kentucky or be willing to relocate to Kentucky upon acceptance of the job offer. Hands-on experience with VMware or Nutanix virtualization platforms. Prior experience in performing at least one server migration between data centers, ideally involving a transition from VMware to Azure Cloud. Proven track record of managing the Office 365 suite. Experience overseeing Azure environments. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in working with networking devices such as routers and firewalls. Scripting and automation proficiency, particularly in languages like PowerShell, Python, or other similar automation tools. Certifications in Azure, such as 'Azure Administrator' or 'Azure Solutions Architect'. VMware-related certifications. Experience in providing desktop support to end users MUST HAVE Reside in Kentucky or be willing to relocate to Kentucky upon acceptance of the job offer. Hands-on experience with VMware or Nutanix virtualization platforms. Experience in performing at least one server migration between data centers, ideally involving a transition from VMware to Azure Cloud. Experience in managing the Office 365 suite. Experience overseeing Azure environments. Experience in working with networking devices such as routers and firewalls.
