Job Brief AMA is looking for a Software Engineer II to work on the NAMS-2 project at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. AMA is looking for a Software Engineer II to work on the NASA Academic Mission Services 2 (NAMS-2) project at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. In this role the successful applicant will provide technical leadership and expertise to support Software Management and Safety Compliance. Job duty scope includes development activities that enable the Aviation Systems Division (Code AF) in achieving Air Traffic Management (ATM)-related research milestones, for which working software is the primary mechanism by which those milestones are proven. The software may be used or proven in a laboratory, human-in-the-loop (HITL) simulation facility, actual ATM facility, or flight test setting. In most cases, the work builds upon existing, large software systems, while in a few cases, the software is created for the first time. The successful applicant will live within a reasonable commuting distance from NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. The salary range for this is $121,000 to $141,000. The key responsibilities include: Update and maintain the Software Development Management Plan for one or more project or sub-project - such as for the Advanced Capabilities for Emergency Response Operations (ACERO). Update and maintain the NPR 7150.2.Software Requirements Mapping Matrix for each project or sub-project. Ensure project compliance with relevant NASA requirements such as NPR 7150.2. Support subprojects subject to Ames audits such as the Quality Audit, Assessment, and Review (QAAR). Support projects requiring internal audits such as the Functional Configuration Audit (FCA) and/or Physical Configuration Audit (PCA). Collaborate with Project Software Manager to define and establish technical processes for the project or sub-projects. Update and monitor adherence to the Software Assurance Plan. Ensure compliance with NASA Software Assurance and Software Safety Standard 8739.8. Coordinate software assurance plans with Code AF Software Assurance manager and Ames S&MA and ensure its alignment to NASA software assurance standards. Assist sub-projects with Software Assurance Planning and Implementation. Conduct limited Software Assurance Audits for the sub-projects and report on results. Track Software Assurance Metrics Required Qualifications: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautics, or related degree. Minimum 5 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance or a similar role. Experience with the development and use of tools for managing requirements with traceability to software test and issue tracking. Experience with software documentation reviews and definition and tracking of software metrics. Desirable Qualifications: Prior experience in NASA Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) procedures, such as compliance with NASA Procedural Requirements (NPR) specifications, is a plus. Familiarity with Atlassian tools, Confluence, JIRA, is desirable. Applicants must be a US citizen or Permanent US Resident.
