Job Description About the Job The Manager, Business Development - BioPharma Enterprise Partnership is responsible for developing and executing upon a comprehensive strategy in deal structuring, contract negotiations, and deal process management for complex and high impact collaborations with FMI's biopharmaceutical partners. The incumbent ensures these partners are positioned to access FMI's full portfolio of biopharma solutions, including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)-based genomic assays and analysis capabilities, companion diagnostic development, SmartTrials services, and molecular and clinical-genomic information solutions. The position is highly collaborative and works cross-functionally with Business Development peers and other FMI teams such as Operations, Research and Development, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, and Corporate Management and Strategy. As a member of the larger Biopharma team, the position presents opportunities to contribute to other strategic development initiatives. Key Responsibilities Executes on Business Development-related aspects of deal structuring, contract negotiations, and deal process management based on areas of alignment between FMI's solutions portfolio and the partner's needs. Manages day to day operational needs and process management for contracting and supports post contract issue resolution. Partners with BD leads on complex and high impact deals from beginning to end including implementing deal negotiation best practices, identifying key business issues and risks, driving contract negotiation efficiencies, pulling in cross functional experts as needed, and representing Transactions Excellence on deal teams with a moderate degree of senior Business Development support from their direct manager. Builds relationships with deal teams and stakeholders at partner organizations to enable the successful negotiation and execution of partnerships that enable new opportunities across the BioPharma solutions portfolio. Contributes to the overall contracting strategy of the BioPharma solutions portfolio by providing feedback to the Strategic Insights, Analytics, and Enablement (SIA&E) team. Receives support from BioPharma Enterprise Partnership leader on certain strategic deals. Travels domestically and internationally as may be needed. Other projects as periodically assigned. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field. 5 years of professional experience in the academic, biopharmaceutical, or diagnostics industry. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree and/or advanced degree in a business or scientific discipline 4 years of operational business development work or transactions experience, including work with implementation within a Biopharma, Diagnostics, or Life Sciences organization Direct professional experience in transactions and/or business development in a healthcare setting Demonstrated record of high productivity and results Demonstrated evidence of success working in a cross-functional environment Strong knowledge and credibility in the oncology market Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to generate reports and presentations Ability to understand and communicate scientific, technical, and legal information Ability to work across multi-disciplinary groups and to lead decision-making discussions Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and collaborative skills with individuals, groups, and senior management Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills Strong writing, presentation, organizational and project management skills Proactive initiative in communications and initiative in building strong relationships LI-Hybrid About Us Foundation Medicine, Inc.
