As a Software Engineer, a typical day will include the following duties: JOB DESCRIPTION This position requires an engineer who will design and develop complex new software products and make significant enhancements to existing software. The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer who is experienced and equally comfortable with developing the front-end and back-end of the web application stack. They should have technical experience in a variety of big data technologies and the proven ability to fashion robust, scalable solutions that can manage large data sets. They should be comfortable working in an Agile environment with little supervision. This person should embody a passion for continuous improvement and innovation. As a member of the team, candidates will require experience with the principles of large-scale (terabytes) database development, large-scale file manipulation, data modeling, data mapping, data testing, data quality, and documentation preparation. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience Minimum 5 years of related software development experience. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS Demonstrated experience building and operating a full stack application using Java and Angular or similar JavaScript/Typescript framework Demonstrated experience with web service design and development Experience with RDBMS’s such as Oracle, MySQL or Postgres Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements in existing systems and platforms Troubleshoots complex problems and provides customer support for software systems and application issues Team focused, willing to develop and implement solutions in a dispersed team environment Experience with modern build tools such as Gradle, Maven and Jenkins Experience with Linux operating system and Tomcat DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS Demonstrated experience with Elastic Search Demonstrated experience with UI design and usability Experience with automated and continuous builds Experience with Amazon Cloud Services KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Design and develop complex new software products and make significant enhancements to existing software Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements in existing systems and platforms Troubleshoots complex problems and provides customer support for software systems and application issues Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, analysts, project managers, and other engineers Provide recommendations for continuous improvement A candidate must be a US Citizen and requires an active/current TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
