To provide contact with all employees of M&O via: telephone, radio, pager and mobile phones; advising personnel of any emergencies and the next assignments; keeping accurate records of the times and locations of all M&O units via: time card, computer, and hand written logs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Receives work orders from incoming telephone calls, remote inter-mail, computer and other employees. Enters work order information into computer from handwritten form. Upholds and enforces Administration instruction and regulations, Board policy and State regulations. Receives phone calls at the M&O Control Center during assigned shifts, relaying messages or redirecting calls as required. Operates two radio base stations in communication with mobile radio units, monitoring, dispatching and logging calls using computer logs, time cards and handwritten logs. Answers all radio transmissions. Follows through on all emergency situation, which occur during the assigned shift, locating and notifying promptly the proper personnel to handle the situation. Monitors surveillance cameras and equipment during assigned shifts. Monitors and changes VCR tapes daily. Reports, to Security, any unauthorized personnel on M&O grounds. Assists security or has radio contact with security when getting unauthorized personnel off the grounds. Opens and secures gates and doors when needed. Maintains keys to all APS locations / facilities and gates; keeps records of personnel who have keys in their possession and those entering grounds. Occasionally operates APS vehicle within the boundaries of the District. Maintains supplies, materials and equipment for Dispatch. Maintains and updates log of all M&O employee pagers, mobile phone and home phone numbers; destroys and reissues as needed. Maintains records of all vehicle assignments, including unit number, employee name and craft assigned. Makes labels for time cards. Assigns units to all work orders received; enters unit number and employee number into computer after the unit has been assigned a work order. Maintains assignment logs for the individual craft, which include the work order number, unit number and location of work done. Maintains log of all the APS locations / schools assigned to the different craft units and locations/schools. Makes all necessary changes of any information in the computer. Notifies APD of all accidents involving APS units and any other accidents involving APS employees. Notifies wrecker services if needed for all APS vehicles. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem solving skills. Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone. Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects. Computer, business English and basic mathematics skills. Knowledge of word processing, database and spreadsheet software. Ability to keyboard 35 words per minute. Knowledge of various maintenance and operations shops and emergency procedures. Knowledge of the nature of various craft jobs. Must have the ability to: read and write English, add and subtract whole numbers and decimals, be bondable, talk clearly and function calmly and dependably under pressure or stressful situations. Computer, data entry, dispatching and security skills. REQUIREMENTS:
Satisfactory completion of skills test. High School Diploma or GED. Three years' experience in vehicle dispatching operations, including operating two base radio stations in communications with mobile radio unit monitoring dispatching, paging, telephoning and recording or logging all calls. Valid New Mexico driver's license with insurable driving record.
