Job Summary:

The Supplier Quality Engineer will lead activities with suppliers to ensure that every component meets TE Sensors quality requirements. This role plays a crucial part in building a best-in-class supply base that fosters a "zero defect quality culture" and drives significant business growth. The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for supplier development, quality assurance, and continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with assigned suppliers to implement actions that ensure the delivery of products/services that meet established requirements and exceed customer expectations. Coach suppliers on Operational Excellence, Root Cause Corrective Action, Problem Solving, Lean Six Sigma, and other quality improvement methodologies. Lead, drive, and support root cause analysis and corrective action investigations with the supply base. Review and approve FAIRs (First Article Inspection Reports), PPAPs (Production Part Approval Process), 8D reports, and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions. Facilitate timely supplier assessments and audits. Ensure compliance with established procurement and quality systems. Develop and oversee supplier Zero Defect continuous improvement plans. Lead initiatives and special projects aimed at supporting commodity and supply base improvements. Implement strategies to drive key metrics such as cost of poor quality, supplier recovery, defect rates, supplier quality plan engagement/effectiveness, PPAP completion, audit execution, and corrective/preventative action closure. Analyze data to identify chronic underperforming suppliers and establish processes to monitor and improve performance using PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycles. Travel up to 50% to engage with suppliers and ensure quality standards are maintained.
Qualifications: Education: BS in Engineering or equivalent experience. Experience: 5-10 years of quality experience, specifically with PCB, PBAs, electronics, wafers, or connectors. Certifications: IPC-600, IPC-610, IPC-620 certification.
Skills and Knowledge: Root Cause Analysis, Problem Solving, Lean, and Six Sigma expertise. Familiarity with quality tools such as FAIR, PPAP, APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), and 8D. Knowledge of industry standards including Automotive, Medical, Aerospace, and/or Industrial (IATF, AS, ISO, etc.). Strong results orientation and ability to drive continuous improvement. Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across quality, engineering, design, manufacturing, and supply chain functions.
