Summary Located in the Bureau for Energy Resources, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Transformation (ENR/ETR). The position serves as Secretary and personal assistant to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Transformation. ETR has program management and supervisory responsibilities of subordinate staff performing work in the Office of Alternative and Renewable Energy (ARE) and the Office of Electricity and Energy Efficiency (EEF). Responsibilities The Secretary performs a wide variety of duties intended to relieve the DAS of administrative detail and assist him/her in the discharge of his/her responsibilities on a daily basis. Organizes administration support for high-level conferences, assists in briefing new and supporting visiting Ambassadors, and backstops task force efforts, as required. Reviews all incoming correspondence and forwards it with necessary information or instructions to the appropriate offices for action. Maintains the daily calendar, establishes priorities, schedules meetings and appointments, accepts or declines invitations, and arranges for substitute representation without prior approval based on personal knowledge of workload. Screens all correspondence prepared for the principal's signature for clarity, completeness of reply, and grammatical and procedural correctness. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F. Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of this position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience maintaining appointments, calendars, and schedules. Experience receiving and directing telephone calls. Experience ensuring the smooth flow of correspondence, as well as editing and composing letters and reports. Education Education requirements do not apply to this vacancy announcement.
