The Washington, DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP), a non-profit, public-private partnership that focuses on facilitating economic development on behalf of the District of Columbia, has an opening for a full-time Research Analyst.
WDCEP, through its business attraction and expansion programs, promotes DC nationally and internationally to attract businesses and support local entrepreneurs. WDCEPs research plays a vital role in helping the public and private sectors make informed investment decisions. In addition, the Research Analyst will have an opportunity to work with the corporate attraction and marketing teams on various projects.
An ideal candidate is detailed-orientated and exhibits excellent communication (written & verbal), organizational, and project management skills. The Research Analyst is expected to be a leading resource and knowledge broker for DCs development and business climate. This position offers the opportunity to understand the city at a macro- and micro-level and develop relationships with both the public and private sectors.
The Research Analyst will be responsible for the following:

Salary: $60,000 $65,000 (depending on qualifications) + benefits (e.g. health, dental, 401k, life, gym membership, work from home min. 1 day per week)

The Research Analyst will be responsible for the following:
- Provide custom research & analysis to business prospects, investors, and real estate brokers.
- Oversee data & content collection and production of The DC Development Report and DC Neighborhood Profiles (http://wdcep.com/resources/).
- Research and provide analysis on key industry sectors to support business attraction, expansion, and retention efforts.
- Produce reports focused on targeted industry clusters.
- Oversee data & content collection and production of a quarterly newsletter, targeting business prospects.
- Visualize WDCEP data in various geospatial and mapping applications.
- Create & update WDCEPs economic development maps
- Maintain WDCEPs real estate development database, used to produce the annual DC Development Report.
- Track various economic indicators such as business openings & closings, business rankings, top local employers, major business expansions & investments.
- Collect neighborhood-level demographic and business-related data to understand trends and provide insights for business expansion opportunities.
- Consolidate & maintain information from Census, ACS, DC State Data Center, DC Office of Research & Analysis, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, amongst other data sources
- Create prospecting lists for use in business attraction & retention efforts
- Support economic development neighborhood tours
- Participate in the preparation and/or attend various conferences (e.g. ICSC)
- General research and support for the organization
Experience & Requirements
- Relevant experience and/or undergraduate degree from an accredited institution (preferred degree focus in economics, business, urban and regional planning, or data analysis).
- Must be able to travel within the DC metro area and out of market
- Must be able to work in-person at WDCEPs office
- Residency in the District of Columbia (or willing to relocate) is preferred
