Job Summary:

The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing blood draws and other specimen collection procedures while maintaining high standards of patient care.

This role includes labeling, handling, and processing specimens, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established protocols and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform venipunctures and other specimen collection, including urine and fecal samples, with precision and professionalism.
  • Label specimens accurately, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
  • Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Package and store specimens according to specified temperature and protocol requirements to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
  • Answer inquiries and communicate laboratory results as needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a laboratory or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Phlebotomy certification (required in certain states).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years of phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced environment.
