Location: Hunt Valley, MD Duration: Direct Hire Title: Accountant Pay Rate: Commensurate with experience Overview: Our Client is a multi-billion dollar full-service single-family office based in Hunt Valley, MD. The firm provides investment and capital management for individuals, trusts, and tax-exempt entities within complex accounting structures. The firm actively invests across public equities, credit, real assets, private equity, and venture capital, focusing on fund, direct and secondary investment strategies that follow a disciplined approach to identifying best-in-class markets, teams and ideas. Job Description The accounting senior will support the accounting team in the day to day operations of the accounting department, including the general accounting, reporting and tax functions. The position is responsible for supporting the investment accounting function. This role offers the right candidate significant exposure to and direction in various areas including fund accounting, Financial Statement compilation and presentation, accounting process development and oversight, NAV management, and internal controls, while working in a fast paced, high-achieving multi-billion dollar family office. The accounting senior will be instrumental to the investment accounting function by reviewing financial reporting, developing and implementing accounting methodologies to best handle changes to our complex environment, and improving processes to ensure efficient and accurate recording and presentation of financial data. This position drives value by ensuring financial data is accurate and complete, identifying and developing improvements that benefit financial data end users and improving the company's understanding of our investment performance. Job Responsibilities Include: • Prepare and review monthly investment partnership reporting ensuring alignment with GAAP • Prepare income statement and balance sheet, including prior period variance analysis • Assist with communication of financial results to the leadership team • Ensure transactions are recorded properly in the accounting system • Review internally and externally produced NAV's including reconciliations, calculations and support • Develop and refine accounting methodologies and processes in response to business needs • Assist in development of new internal processes and workflows to facilitate a more formalized approach to the recording of accounting data • Assist with the maintenance, development and enhancement of internal controls/process documentation • Ensure assigned accounts are reconciled on a regular basis and that the reconciliations are at the appropriate level of detail and tie to the general ledger • Mentor assigned intern • Coordinate across departments on company-wide projects • Complete ad hoc projects and provide ad hoc analytical support, including cross-functionally, as requested Qualifications and Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in accounting required • Minimum 3 years work experience in financial services industry or public accounting (investment experience preferred) • RIA experience preferred • CPA preferred - must be on CPA track • Strong knowledge and experience assessing internal controls and implementing compensating controls • Proven ability to develop and improve upon processes • Capable of delivering results both independently and as part of a team, with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications with advanced skills in Excel • Strong analytical, documentation, organizational, presentation and project management skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • High reliability and a strong sense of accountability • Commitment to high professional ethical standards
