A real estate investment firm in Florida is currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join their growing team as their new Director of Fund Accounting. In this position, the Director of Fund Accounting will be responsible for playing a pivotal role in enhancing the structure, controls, and financial rigor of their operations.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Fund Accounting will:
- Provide leadership and oversight for the day-to-day accounting operations of the firm's flagship funds and co-investment funds
- Coordinate external audits and supervise a team of 2-3 Accountants
- Work closely with General Partners (GPs) and Investor Relations (IR) team to support fund activities and LP reporting
- Review books and records, manage capital activities, including management fees, and oversee allocations to LPs
- Handle ad-hoc, quarterly, and annual LP reporting, including administration of capital calls and distributions
- Oversee waterfall models and performance reporting, ensuring accuracy and transparency in fund operations
- Coordinate with fund administrators for outsourced funds
- Lead the annual PE funds audit process, managing coordination with external auditors
- Review quarterly fund valuations and ensure compliance with SEC regulations and GAAP standards
- Collaborate with internal tax staff and external service providers, including attorneys, consultants, and bankers
- Manage quarterly financial closings, reviewing P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements for accuracy
- Partner with Investor Relations team to review quarterly Limited Partner materials and marketing decks
- Provide assistance with periodic portfolio company deal closings, ensuring smooth transaction processes
- 8+ years of experience in Commercial Real Estate Accounting
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Expertise in Property Accounting, Joint Ventures, and Real Estate Funds
- Strong acumen and experience with Private Equity Fund financial operations and industry best practices
- General understanding of GAAP and partnership accounting for private equity funds
- Active experience in a Supervisory role, with demonstrated leadership abilities
- Microsoft Excel proficeint
- CPA designation
- Public Accounting Background
- Experience with Yardi software
