Harper & Sons, Inc., a third-generation, family-owned and operated, energetic commercial construction company is seeking a Bookkeeping/ Accounting Assistant to become an integral part of our team! You will collect, review, and organize accounting and project-related information, process purchase orders, and complete a wide variety of other construction documentation tasks.

The ideal team member must be motivated, on-time, have an excellent attendance record, be personable, and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. We are seeking an individual who is able to multi-task, meet deadlines for weekly and daily deadlines, and uphold the level of professional service that we strive to deliver to our clients! The position will involve working closely with the comptroller, construction project managers, and field superintendents to accomplish the tasks necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and organize accounts payable invoices from vendors and subcontractors
  • Compare invoices with authorized purchase orders for accuracy
  • Collect and cost code weekly payroll time-cards/data
  • Process purchase orders, and track deliveries from vendors
  • Prepare cover sheets and log in product data received from vendors
  • Attend in-office and project meetings with upper management staff as necessary, and assist with project-related tasks
  • Keep accurate records in accordance with company standards
  • Perform all other office tasks as directed
  • Assist project managers with tasks as needed, including preparation of project start-up and close-out documents

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in billing, finance, or other related fields
  • Excellent Microsoft Office products skills, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • An AA degree is preferred, and higher education is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous construction accounting experience is preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of standard accounting procedures
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
