About the Role

The Company is in search of an Executive Director to lead its mission of preserving and promoting the diverse history of the region. The successful candidate will be a visionary and dynamic leader, responsible for aligning the organization's day-to-day activities with its strategic objectives. This role involves both internal and external engagement, including collaboration with the Board and staff to enhance fundraising efforts, working on campus expansion initiatives, and serving as the primary representative to various stakeholders. The Executive Director will also be tasked with recruiting, training, and developing a team to execute the organization's programs and projects, as well as fostering a culture of transparency, collaboration, and innovation. Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should have a minimum of 5 years' of relevant management experience, with a preference for those with a background in nonprofit management. The role requires a candidate with a passion for the mission, outstanding leadership abilities, and a proven track record in fundraising. Strong strategic and visioning skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively with a volunteer board and diverse community. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to manage financial and risk aspects, and a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. An advanced or history-related degree is preferred. The Executive Director will be expected to work some evenings and weekends and may be required to travel occasionally.
