**RATE**

Pay rate will be dependent upon certification level. Range $31.74 + $8.34 - $10.96 health and welfare allowance / hour.

**POSITION SUMMARY**

The heavy equipment operator operates a variety general construction equipment including but not limited to: excavators (mini and large), back hoes, skid loaders, cranes, graders, rollers and other related equipment. This position offers opportunities to become proficient in utility digs, general dirt work such as grading, restoring flow of storm ditches, and equipment operations. During winter months assist in snow removal via operation of various equipment. This position will require overtime and being on call and also performing other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

+ Must be a high school graduate or GED

+ **Class A CDL Required**

+ Must have a minimum of two (2) years related Heavy Equipment Operator experience

+ Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs

+ Be able to work alone unsupervised

+ Demonstrate proficiency of operation of various construction equipment

+ Dump truck and tractor trailer experience is preferred

+ Tanker and hazmat endorsement is preferred

+ Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

+ For positions requiring use of a Company and/or Customer vehicle, must have a safe driving record within the past 36 months, as defined by Company policy.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in precarious places and is occasionally exposed to dust and debris.
