As an Equipment Mechanic, you will leverage your expertise in mechanical diagnostics and repair to maintain Lonestar Equipment Rentals' fleet. This role is pivotal in ensuring the fleet is rental-ready through a proactive and effective preventative and corrective maintenance program. You will serve as a mentor to Rental Technicians, exemplifying high standards of product knowledge and quality within your branch.
Responsibilities:
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all Lonestar-owned fleet equipment and trucks, ensuring rental readiness.
• Diagnose and repair internal combustion engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, propane systems, and fuel systems.
• Conduct routine services such as oil changes, tire replacements, lubrication, and battery replacements.
• Perform major repairs using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments with minimal supervision.
• Operate and test equipment, including scissor lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators, and pumps, to meet quality and efficiency standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
• Manage work orders, including part ordering and warranty repairs, while documenting services accurately.
• Travel to customer jobsites in Lonestar vehicles to diagnose, repair, or retrieve downed equipment, using safety protocols to load and transport that equipment as needed.
• Communicate effectively with customers to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
• Assist in training Rental Technicians under the direction of the Branch Manager.
• Produce detailed service reports and repair logs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Advanced diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to understand technical schematics, owner manuals, and safety instructions.
• Proficiency in operating and testing a wide range of equipment and tools.
• Solid computer skills for entering work orders and managing parts inventory.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for team and customer interactions.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage time effectively.
• Dependable team player with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Valid Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in warehouse conditions that are not always climate controlled and may include, heat and humidity.
- Noise level may be loud at times.
- Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
