Job Title: Service Coordinator
Department: Transitional Housing Communities
Reports To: Operations Manager

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Service Coordinator works in partnership with other program staff to provide a safe and welcoming environment for transitional housing residents. This includes assisting with stocking supplies for the program, overseeing meal service, spot cleaning or sanitizing, preparing spaces for new residents to move into, and packing up items left behind by residents leaving the program. The ideal candidate has a welcoming and friendly attitude toward residents and staff and the ability to collaborate with multiple SVdP departments. This representative must be energetic, resourceful, and reliable with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for working with vulnerable populations. This candidate will exhibit an ability and desire to maintain and promote an organized, safe, and efficient work environment. This individual will partner with other program personnel to make decisions in the best interest of the safety of the entire group. This requires the ability to think and act quickly when there is a need to pivot or address urgent needs and emergencies.
Specific Duties:
- Is responsible for tracking food, clothing and hygiene inventory and ordering.
- Oversee meal service for residents in the community dining hall.
- Perform monthly safety inspections including fire extinguisher checks with Operations Manager.
- Distribute supplies to shelter residents according to standards and schedules for distribution.
- Assist residents to their bed location upon intake.
- Provide new residents with orientation and tour of the facilities.
- Ensure that bed spaces are maintained in sanitary and safe condition by shelter residents.
- Store or remove items left by shelter residents discharging from the program according to shelter
policy.
- Transport guest to and from appointments when needed.
- Monitor, report, and address any hazardous conditions via spot cleaning, sanitizing, remediation.
- Coordinate incident intervention with other staff and security when needed.
- Assist residents to move into permanent housing as needed.
- Overnight Service Coordinators ensure all residents are in their assigned beds at bed check and report
any absences or irregularities to day staff
- Supports positive volunteer experiences by teaching, being inclusive, and answering questions.
- Demonstrates gratitude for volunteer assistance.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and agency events as requested or required.
- Other duties as identified by Shelter Management.
- Participate in and serve as a model for SVdP’s Culture of Philanthropy and ensure that SVdP volunteers
feel welcomed and appreciated.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Level One Fingerprint Clearance or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Excellent communication, organization skills, and ability to interact with residents, staff, and volunteers required.
- Related experience working with vulnerable populations, volunteers, and staff in a temporary shelter environment preferred.
- Driver’s License and clean 39 month driving record will be shown preference.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in social services or another related field will be shown preference.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach and lift up to 50 pounds are required for this position.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate orally and in writing required.
