The Production Engineering function in Ultra ensures that manufacturing processes are optimized for safety and efficiency. It involves managing production teams, maintaining schedules, dealing with health, safety and environmental hazards and troubleshooting production line issues.
A professional at this grade possesses knowledge for specific fields and performs structured work assignments. Uses established procedures to solve problems by making judgments and gets work done with quality under moderate supervision. Has limited discretion to vary from established procedures.

Job Description:
- Design, implements, and maintains manufacturing processes in an industrial plant.
- Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
- Prepares manufacturing documentation, including process flow charts and work instructions for use in all manufacturing processes.
- Transitions new products into production (NPI), works closely with manufacturing personnel through the initial build.
- Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow; designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Confers with engineering concerning product design and tooling to ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) methods are incorporated into the design.
- Confers with vendors to arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and other costs related to the manufacturing process, including work instruction development and tool/fixture design and fabrication.
- Performs debugging and troubleshooting efforts on defective items; works with Quality Engineering to drive root cause / corrective action activities.
- BS degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or related technical field with 2+ years' equivalent work experience; OR 5+ years relevant work experience.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Dependable, reliable, a critical thinker who can effectively collaborate with co-workers and drive change and uses data for better decision making.
- Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.
- Knowledge of implementing Lean-Sigma principles and methodologies (problem solving, waste reduction, value stream mapping, 5S, just-in-time delivery), and the application of statistical methods in manufacturing.
- 1 year of CREO CAD experience or equivalent CAD experience such as SolidWorks, NX or CATIA.
- Machining experience (CNC mill, lathe).
- Programming experience.
- Must be willing to lift up to 25 pounds, occasional bending.
