Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will design and develop machining and fabrication processes, tooling, and fixtures to produce fully finished precision parts for fluid control devices used in various industries such as medical, industrial, and material handling. The role involves supporting the design of tools and fixtures in Solid Edge or SolidWorks, and setting up, programming, and troubleshooting CNC mills and turning equipment while utilizing precision gaging/inspection equipment with an understanding of GD&T.

Responsibilities

+ Provide cost estimates for engineering time, capital, tooling, and fixtures required for new processes.

+ Assure equipment designs are safe and ergonomically operable for manufacturing operators.

+ Meet cost, capital, and product performance goals with the process.

+ Develop assembly and test line concepts that allow flexible running of multiple product families with exchangeable or common tooling.

+ Ensure labor linearity across multiple staffing levels and operation balancing across stations for efficient capital utilization and high line output.

+ Achieve 5 Sigma process capability Cpk of 1.67 for key product characteristics (KPCs) and Cpk of 1.33 for other dimensions.

+ Conduct PFMEAs to ensure processes with low Risk Priority Numbers (RPNs), focusing on design solutions, tooling solutions, and quality checks.

+ Apply error-proofing at operations and in a layered approach with other processes where feasible.

+ Develop process control plans (PCPs) for KPCs and key control characteristics (KCCs) with appropriate statistical process control (SPC).

+ Create problem response charts for key product and process failure modes.

+ Design processes for maintainability, including planned and preventative maintenance.

+ Load PM plans into the system with input from maintenance and relevant stakeholders.

+ Develop and release process workbooks and associated operator standard work documents for key review meetings on process concept/design and safety.

+ Raise engineering change order (ECO) process packages, assign actions, and ensure close-out follow-up.

+ Provide timing charts, cost, and resource estimates for tooling and fixtures.

+ Ensure project hours and expenditures are logged to appropriate projects and sub-projects.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Manufacturing or Mechanical.

+ G&M code programming experience.

+ Experience developing manufacturing processes in a machining environment.

+ 3D CAD design experience - SolidWorks or Solid Edge.

+ Project management experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with CAM software or equivalent.

+ Experience selecting and purchasing equipment and tools.

Work Environment

You will report to the engineering team lead and work within a team of three manufacturing engineers. Typical work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with some flexibility. You will closely collaborate with product development engineers, quality engineers, and operators to ensure products are designed for efficient manufacturing. The organization specializes in the design and manufacture of pneumatic and fluid control valves, valve systems, and customized products for various industries including medical, analytical, factory automation, test and measurement, and process control.
